Bláthnaid Ní Chofaigh is an Irish TV presenter, born in Canada. She has presented shows such as The Afternoon Show, Echo Island and the People in Need Telethon on RTÉ Television. She is married with four children and currently lives in Dublin.
Blathnaid is Plan Ireland’s Ambassador for Girls and she is particularily motivated by issues facing girls in the developing world such as lack of education, female genital cutting and equal rights.
Because I am a Girl I ask … that every little girl born will not be cut!

Because I am a Girl I hope … that my daughter will grow up to see that all girls can reach their full potential.

Because I am a Girl I remember… everything.
Because I am a Girl I like… myself, I like being a girl and I want every girl to like being a girl.
Because I am a Girl I dislike… that we are sometimes taken advantage of and looked on as being inferior.
Because I am a Girl I feel… obliged to speak and fight for those girls who cannot speak for themselves.
