Mar gheall gur cailín mé, iarraim…go dtabharfadh mná meas, spreagadh agus inspioráid dá chéile agus gan a bheith ag caitheamh anuas ar a chéile chomh minic agus a bhíonn.

Mar gheall gur cailín mé, creidim…go bhfuil an jab is sásúla agus is tábhachtaí sa domhan tugtha do mhná, sin beatha a thabhairt do leanaí agus a bheith ina máithreacha.

Mar gheall gur cailín mé, tá súil agam…le saol ina mbeidh mná ar chomhchéim le fir ar fud an domhain, ina mbeidh meas ar a dtuairim, ina mbeidh siad sábháilte ag siúl an bhóthair san oíche agus ina mbeimid in ann a mbeidh bainte amach againn ar son an chomhionannais a cheiliúradh.

Mar gheall gur cailín mé, tá mé ag smaoineamh ar…an gcéad mhóreachtra eile agus ar an mbealach le m’iníon a spreagadh chun a bheith fírinneach léi féin, roghanna cearta a dhéanamh agus misneach a bheith aici gur féidir léi cibé rud is mian léi a bhaint amach.

Mar gheall gur cailín mé, tá aisling agam…de shaol aoibhinn amach anseo, tá sin dlite dúinn ar fad.

Mar gheall gur cailín mé, cuimhním…go geanúil ar na hamanna a chaith mé ag teach mo sheanmháthar agus mé i mo chailín óg, ag triail amach bróga sála arda m’aintín Elly, ag éisteacht le ‘Seasons In the Sun’ ar cheirnín agus ag ithe ciste aoibhinn úll mo sheanmháthar.

Mar gheall gur cailín mé, is maith liom…am a chaitheamh le mo chairde ban, ag ól gloine fíona agus i mbun comhrá banúil.

Mar gheall gur cailín mé, ní maith liom…an bealach a mbaineann mná áirithe sult as a bheith ag caitheamh anuas ar mhná eile.

Mar gheall gur cailín mé, braithim…go bhfuil an t-ádh orm a bheith beo agus i mo shláinte, ag déanamh jab is aoibhinn liom gach lá agus cónaí orm i bpobal a chuidíonn liom sin a dhéanamh.

Mar gheall gur cailín mé, déanaim…ceiliúradh ar an éacht is mó ar fad atá déanta agam, mo thriúr clainne, Anna, Fionn agus Jeaic, mar aon le hintleacht bhreá mheáite an iomad ban iontach atá i mo shaol.

Because I am a girl, I ask…that women respect, encourage and inspire one another more and berate one another less.

Because I am a girl, I believe…that women are tasked with the most rewarding and most important job in the world, giving life and being a mother.

Because I am a girl, I hope…for a future where women worldwide are seen as equal to men, where we are respected for our opinions, where we can feel safe walking the streets at night and where we can celebrate how far we have come in our quest for equality.

Because I am a girl, I wonder…what my next big adventure will be and how I might best inspire my daughter to be true to herself, to make wise choices and to trust that she can achieve whatever it is she desires.

Because I am a girl I dream…of the happy ever after, we all deserve one.

Because I am a girl I remember…fondly the times spent at my Granny’s house as a little girl, trying on my Aunt Elly’s high heels, listening to ‘Seasons In the Sun’ on vinyl and eating my Granny’s yummy homemade apple pie.

Because I am a girl, I like…spending time with my girlfriends, having a glass of wine and a good ol’ girlie catch up.

Because I am a girl, I dislike…how some women enjoy putting other women down.

Because I am a girl, I feel…lucky to be alive and healthy, doing a job that I absolutely love every day and living in a society that enables me to do so.

Because I am a girl, I celebrate…my greatest achievement, my three children, Anna, Fionn and Jeaic and the great and wise minds of the many wonderful women in my life.
