Mother’s Day blog: Geraldine Harte

Geraldine Harte is wife to her loving husband Brian and mum to four amazing grown up children, Sarah, Karen, Emma, and Conor (Sarah is Plan Ireland’s Media & Communications Officer and is pictured with Geraldine on the left!).

Her 30 year background in recruitment consultancy gave her the inspiration to become an entrepreneur and Life Coach. She is currently in the process of establishing her own business, Aspire Life Coaching Group. Last year, Geraldine was diagnosed with breast cancer and is currently undergoing her cancer journey. With a very positive attitude, she is well and truly on the road to remission.

Because I am a Girl I ask…that each of us play a part in supporting and encouraging those who are finding the current economic climate so challenging. A cup of tea and a listening ear can make such a difference.

Because I am a Girl I believe…if we change our attitude the opportunities are always there. I believe our lives do not just happen; it is a series of choices we make.

Because I am a Girl I hope…to grow old gracefully and get to wear the big purple hat!

Because I am a Girl I wonder…why we waste so much time living in the past, the future is where it’s at.

Because I am a Girl I dream…of living each day to the full.

Because I am a Girl I remember…my mum whose life was cut so short that I never got to show her all the wonderful love my children share with me.

Because I am a Girl I like…parties, socialising and having the best time ever, especially when my friends and family are all around me.

Because I am a Girl I dislike…prejudice, racism and religious inhumanities.

Because I am a Girl I feel…so proud that my children are growing to be the best that they can be. They are amazing and so full of energy and whilst I can’t take full responsibility I’ll enjoy my moments of glory.

Because I’m a girl, I celebrate…all the courageous women who are breast cancer survivors and those who have lost loved ones to cancer.
